SPATIAL INVESTIGATIONS
Spatial meaning is often best experienced rather than imagined from photographs or images from books. Hence, in addition to media related references, students will be required to investigate real spaces which reflect understanding from the readings and discussions. The mapping of spatial experiences with textual understanding is an important progression where cognitive processes are matched with physical experiences. Students should question the ‘meaning of space’ , as described in texts, could indeed be quantified by similar spatial manifestations found in lived spaces both past and present. If there are such unique spaces, how then does the physical configuration contribute to the special quality. Investigations may take in the form of field trips or visits to interesting edifices & spaces around the region. The sites of visit will be jointly suggested by the students and the lecturer. This collaborative web report documents spatial investigations conducted by the present cohort of MA(SP).
