1.Thorough investigation of the various types of metaphors. Could have elaborated more on Karatani’s ‘will to architecture’. Is the metabolist movement influenced by Karatani’s writings? Do we have a ‘will to architecture’ in Singapore or a ‘will to import’? Must be careful with the use of words – Shakespeare cannot reflect Churchchill’s views – anachronism.
2.Interesting choice of examples although a little scarce and not thoroughly examined.
3.There are many types of metaphors given. However, there are no visible linkages between the built examples and the type of metaphor they belong to. The conclusion seems rather abrubt.

The first section presents definitions as found in secondary sources, to illucidate the meaning of metaphors. Good original writing refers to secondary sources, but in addition confers new meaning or purposes, offers new insight s, or raise issues that had not been previously addressed.
Finding and presenting associations that others had found is not original., Founding really means establishing a base or basis of reasoning by one’s own constructions and inferences.

The use of macro scale political strategies and examples of cities planning does not lend well to Spatial Design experiences. What is important is to be able to detail individual psychological or perceptual experiences of physical constructions due to metaphors used.
While citing examples of social political or geographical contexts

The examples of landscape applications are apt, and of a good scale of human interface. This opportunity could have been given more psychological readings on its effect on its users, to illucidate how poetics of spaces and metaphors can be of psychological phenomenon.
You have found an interesting compendium of meanings of “metaphor”, mostly relevant to literary applications. This is technical issue however knowing you only have a 3000 word article, that requires a summary of your findings in a very short reference naming all the various meanings found, and then select the most relevant metaphors (such as compound, para-logical, submerged and root), following which you may use to illustrate them in applications of spatial design operations in a limited 3000 word article.

The essential role served by post-graduate or professional works is to clarify, distil and ask the next most relevant questions, that leads to our own insights and also hopefully to enlighten others. This value should be borne in mind as one of the many purposes of reflective writings as academics and practitioners.
